Maintenance of panel curtainsEasy cleaning
In the first place – as for all kinds of textiles – the care instructions of the producer apply for panel curtains. Here it should be especially checked if a wet cleaning with wiping or washing is possible or if the curtain is supposed to be cleaned professionally by a special treatment. Gentle operationThe main reason for washing a panel curtain is the occurrence of fingerprints on the operating areas after some time. Especially light-coloured fabrics should therefore not be touched with the hands; it is much gentler to move them with a curtain draw rod or also with an operating chain. In case you have to open or close a whole curtain consisting of several panels the chain is the more comfortable solution. With dogs at the panel carriers the first dog draws all others with him when opened or closed. Particularly with very high and wide curtains operating chains and curtain draw rods are important, because not only dirt but also the tensile loading can leave irreparable traces on some sensible fabrics. Due to their separate mounting panel curtains can be taken down individually for washing purposes, which is possible in a fast and easy way by unfastening the Velcro tape or the clamping device from the panel carriers. Then you remove the loading rod or the end profile and you can start with the cleaning. But watch out! Most fabrics are coated by stabilizing and protecting impregnations, which can be damaged by rubbing or washing in the machine, which could result in foldings or other damages. Synthetic fabrics do not need strong pressure during the washing, because dust or dirt only collects superficially on the fibres. Soak the curtains for half an hour in lukewarm soapy water, swing them a bit in the water and the dirt will come off. Afterwards, rinse the curtains well and let them drip. Before the fabric is completely dried you can hang the curtain back. The loading rod tightens the panel curtain already while drying so that you can dispense with ironing in most cases.
